Last month saw the Whalebone’s 2nd annual Oktoberfest. Expanding on the success of our first Oktoberfest last year, we really enjoyed putting on another weekend full of Bier, Wurst, Pretzels, Oompah and all things German. We were delighted by both the turnout and the fabulous feedback we received from so many of you; we’re thrilled that everyone seemed to enjoy the weekend as much as we did!
Sourcing beers that aren’t regularly seen in the UK and importing them direct from Munich certainly proved to be a popular move, well done Steve, all of that research and hunting for suppliers was time well spent!
To answer a question that we’ve been asked by several customers since the event; Yes, due to the popularity of the beers last year we decided to import more than we anticipated needing for the weekend so that we can continue to offer, as special pop-up guests on the bar, some of these delicious but hard to find brews after the festival. At the time of writing this we have Franziskaner Weissbier, a classically German, unfiltered, cloudy wheat beer on sale, but next time you’re in check the blackboard next to the bar to see what’s currently available.
We would like to say a special thank you to the City of Norwich Brass Band for some fantastic entertainment, to the suppliers and technicians who helped us to source the beers and serve them to you, but most of all we would like to thank all of those who came along and helped to make Oktoberfest ’17 so much fun.
