GOLF SOCIETY

Did you know we have a long established Golf Society called TWIGS  and we  organise  several meetings a year. If you have some clubs, have a proper handicap, have a good sense of humour and  like to enjoy yourself with a bunch of like minded guys, why not ask Steve at the bar more information.

Well I think we are all glad to see the end of January, post Christmas blues, post Christmas empty bank accounts,  but the good news is that spring is nearer and there’s the Whalebone  to meet your friends and put all that behind you.

We had a delegation of Beer Writers in the  Whalebone on Saturday night  who are visiting Norwich Pubs who are supporting this years Norwich City Ale Festival which will take place from 31st May – 10th June.  They were most impressed with our selection of Ales on tap  and the ambience at the Whalebone , it was good to meet them. The Festival  will feature local ales and we will be organising a great selection of these  plus entertainment through out the Festival. Detials will be posted on our  Events Page, Blog and on Facebook in due course.

It is now likely that we will move our own  Annual Beer Festival to later in the year probably to November but once again watch out for  details.

Well it’s here again and the good news is that the weather has been very kind so far. The other good news  for the Football fans is that we have now switched our satelite supplier and can show a great range of games including 3.00 pm kick offs   home and away for Norwich City.

We are in the process of arranging some more speciality evenings, following the success of our recent wine tasting and at home with a brewer evening, so watch this space and we’ll keep you updated.

Steves got some interesting beers coming in this month which we will list in due course and we will also be introducing a “Wine of the Month” in February which should create some interest.

We would like to wish you all a Very Happy, Healthy and hopefully a Prosperous New Year. Steve and Karen look forward to seeing you on New Years Eve at the Whalebone or early  in 2012.

The  Carol Evening at the  Whalebone last Thursday collected £75 for the Childrens Society  being supported by Christhchurch New Catton and  the Revd Keith Crocker. 

It was a fantstic evening with  readings  – poems - hearty  singing and mince pies.  It was a great start to  the fesitve season.

What a great win on Saturday.

Can’t believe it though FA pulled plug on live game and

LIVE RADIO NORFLOK  went dead . 

We hope that normal service will be resumed as soon a spossible

Well its all happened this week. Karens put the Christmas Decorations up, The FA have pulled the plug on 3.00pm Live Footy Via-sat and we had a fantastic Wine tasting on Thursday Evening including Call My Quaff which was a fun Quiz. Oh and I nearly forgot we have now installed free Wi Fi for our customers, codes will be given out as and when.
